The team at the University of Berne is responsible for analysing the matriculas and graduation lists of the universities in the Holy Roman Empire during the period between 1450 and 1550 AD. This work has now been done. In close cooperation with the team in Giessen we are now consecutively focussing on various regions of the Reich. Having completed studying the careers of Graduates in the Lower Rhine region, we are currently concerned with the Upper and Middle Rhine region including Switzerland and Swabia. Future modules will look at Southern Germany including Bohemia and Austria, and to Middle and Northeast Germany. As far as possible we are also taking into account those times the Graduates spent abroad, especially in France, Italy, or Poland.

The work on the Repertorium started in 2001. Since January 2007 the project is financed by the Union of the German Academies of Sciences and Humanities, in the preceding years it was supported by the SNF.
The Swiss Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences (SAGW) supports the project with a board of trustees since 2007.
